MEDITERRANEAN CLIMATE

The Baix Emporda enjoys a Mediterranean climate, characterized by mild winters and dry and warm summers.

FROM MARCH TO MAY

Temperatures are mild and sunshine hours increase by the day. The average maximum temperature is 65F and the average minimum 52F.

FROM JUNE TO SEPTEMBER

Temperatures increase but they don’t usually get higher than 82F, July and August are the warmest months of the year. Rainfall in summer is limited and generally takes the form of an occasional summer storm to cool down the air before the sun comes out again. In the last half of September temperatures start to slowly cool down with a higher chance of rainfall.

DURING FALL and winter

The long, sunny days continue with mild temperatures of 69F in October and 60 in November, on average. The maximum and minimum winter temperatures are 57F and 44F, respectively. The coolest month tends to be January though the temperature rarely falls below 41F.

WATER TEMPERATURE

The average water temperature in the nearby beaches and coves is around 58F in April, 62F in May, 70F in June, 73F July, 74F in August, 73F in September and 68F in October.

THE BEST TIME TO VISIT

The best time to visit the area to enjoy the nicer weather, outdoor activities, beach will be June, July, August and the first two weeks of September.

May, late September and October are good times because it will be less crowded, the weather will be pleasant, perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking, but expect chilly temperatures for the water.

Late March and April are good months for outdoor activities such as hiking and sightseeing.
