THE

HISTORY

OF CALONGE

Calonge has a very long history. The existence of many dolmens and menhirs, some of the closest found near the sea, it explains the preference of prehistoric cultures for these locations.

During the 8th century construction started for the Castle in the old part of the town. During the 12th century the Monastery of Santa Maria del Mar was built. During the 18th century the Sant Martí cathedral was built, during that century Calonge started the industrial revolution with many factories making cork caps. From our backyard you can see the old town and castle in the distance and hear the cathedral bells.

The main house was originally built in the 70s and the guest house was the first structure that was built.
