COVES
TO VISIT
One of our favorite activities in the Costa Brava, it is to hike the “Camí de Ronda» to find hidden small coves and beaches and admire the breathtaking scenery of the cliffs and the Mediterranean. This is a list of my absolute favorite coves in the Costa Brava.
The water in the Costa Brava tends to be cooler than in other areas of the Mediterranean, however its beautiful scenery with coves, turquoise-blue waters and scenery makes them among the best in the Mediterranean.
There are great sandy beaches and SantAntoni de Calonge, near the house has one of the best in the Costa Brava, full of amenities and shallow waters, great for families and kids. However, personally I love hiking and fin ding more remote coves, so this is a list of my top recommended spots.
CALA EL GOLFET
The scenery is breathtaking, turquoise waters and easy access, makes this cove one of our favorites.
The cove is near the town of Calella de Palafrugell. It is made of stones and pebbles.
AIGUABLAVA BEACH
This in one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Brava. It can get very crowded during the summer months, and it can be difficult to park. Its blue and turquoise waters are among the clearest in the Costa Brava. The tapas restaurant Toc al Mar is located here, which is one of our favorites. The beach has sand. This part of the Camí de Ronda takes you to smaller coves like Platja de Fornells.
CALA DE LA ROCA DEL PALLER
This is one of my favorites, because it is usually less crowded, the waters are beautiful and clear, there are a few shaded areas with pine trees and it is more of a hidden gem, because you need to hike through the “Camí de Ronda» from Torre Valentina in Sant Antoni de Calonge to get there for about 15-20 minutes. It is made of stones and pebbles.
CALA FUTADERA
This is one of the most beautiful coves in Costa Brava, it is a little bit further away from the house near Tossa de Mar, but worth the trip. It is a sandy beach with some areas of pebble/stones
